Meet the Judges

Michelle Marshall

 

Michelle Marshall is founding editor of European Cleaning Journal (ECJ) and was responsible for launching the publication in 1993. Based in the UK, she has been fortunate enough to have been involved in the professional cleaning sector for 30 years. Through her involvement with the magazine she has gained insight into all aspects of the sector and travelled to many countries in Europe and beyond.

The annual European Cleaning & Hygiene Awards, the first pan-European awards programme for the industry which first took place in 2016, were also established by Michelle. Now in its sixth year, she is delighted to be part of an event that seeks to raise the profile of the cleaning industry - as the awards gather momentum and achieve more recognition every year.

 

Michelle is also chair of the judges for the Amsterdam Innovation Award, the long-running awards programme organised by Interclean Amsterdam to reward excellence among the industry’s manufacturers.

 

ECJ is the only pan-European publication serving the professional cleaning sector. With its lively mix of news, product reviews, in-depth analysis and comment ECJ is a well-respected and reliable source of content for the sector – celebrating 30 years in 2023.

Juan Díez de los Ríos

 

Juan Díez de los Ríos is President of the Spanish Association of Cleaning Companies (ASPEL). He has been working in the field of business service and facility management for more than 35 years.

​

Juan has a long experience in bussiness administration and his expertiese currently focuses in social dialogue and industrial relations and representation.

 Juan is also part of the technical committee of the Spanish magazine "Limpiezas" and is president of the technical committee of the magazine Facility Management and Services FM & S.  He is member of IFMA Spain.

Lynn Webster

 

Lynn Webster, Director of LWC Ltd, is an Independent Consultancy Company with personally some 40 years’ experience, is recognised for her expertise in the cleaning and associated facilities industries; providing independent, professional cleaning consultancy to a wide range of organisations, across commercial, healthcare, retail, leisure, hospitality, and education sectors.

Lynn’s career spanned a diverse range of management positions held prior to the launch of her own business in 2004.  This included healthcare, large retail organisations and hospitality to senior roles for Service Providers and FM businesses. She is one of the original Top 100 most influential women in Hospitality, Travel, Leisure and Tourism and holds the British Institute of Cleaning Science Sholom Gordon Award for outstanding contribution to the Cleaning Industry. She is a Consultant for ISSA across their international portfolio providing a range of support and training services.

 

In business she provides professional, comprehensive consultancy services in all aspects of cleaning and facilities management; supporting and demonstrating compliance. She is a recognised specialist in the cleaning audit arena, with clients from a wide variety of organisations, acknowledging her expertise with services delivered both within the UK and in the international marketplace.

Frank Veneman

 

G.J. “Frank” Veneman is director of the MBG Consultancy Group. He has over 35 years’ experience as a consultant regarding the technical and quality aspects of cleaning services.

​

Over the years Veneman has contributed to the development of numerous standards and certification schemes. 

Various systems for monitoring and measuring technical quality and customer and client satisfaction have been developed or initiated by him. He is the author of several books and numerous reference and training manuals.

 

With his background as a biophysicist, he has worked on projects in over a hundred hospitals, next to numerous food production plants. As a result, he has years of experience as an auditor on infection prevention, as well as in HACCP and GMP. His experience is not limited to these specialist areas, also banks, insurance companies, army and police forces, universities and schools have been assisted by him in the past.

 

Veneman is strong advocate of investing in people and organisation. Going the distance pays off for providers, clients and staff.

 

Veneman is executive board member and research coordinator at the VSR (Association for Cleaning Research), executive board member at SSK (Foundation for Quality in Cleaning). Member of various standardization committees and chairman of the NEN standardization committee on measuring cleaning performance (NEN 2075).

 

Veneman is a regular speaker on topics regarding cleaning and other facility services.
